If disciplinary action is being taken against you, your employer must follow strict procedures otherwise the dismissal will be automatically unfair.

The employer should investigate any allegation against you and should invite you to a disciplinary hearing. You are entitled to have a witness (not a representative) at any such hearing and the allegations against you must be made clear. You must be given an opportunity to answer the complaint against you and you are entitled to a right of appeal against whatever decision is taken.

Disciplinary sanctions include verbal warning, written warning, final written warning and dismissal. The appeal should be heard by someone who has not previously been in involved in the process.
